Dr. Pat Maher is a Professor in the School of Physical and Health Education at Nipissing University. He was the inaugural Dean of Teaching (2019-2024) at Nipissing University, and led the diverse staff team in the Teaching Hub - an award-winning centre for teaching excellence, educational leadership and student engagement. Pat is a 3M National Teaching Fellow (2014), as well as a Fellow of the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (2020). He is currently Chair of the Board for the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE), and a Regional Vice-President (Canada) for the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISSOTL).
Pat has published widely across the teaching and learning sphere, as well in disciplinary specific spaces. He is an experienced journal editor and has taught and conducted research projects from Iceland to Antarctica, New Zealand to Norway and many places in between. His latest major work is the
