About me
Roger Batchelor is a graduate student at the University of Toronto, pursuing a Master of Education in Curriculum and Pedagogy with a focus on Digital Learning. With over 15 years of teaching experience, including at Trent University, Roger specializes in entrepreneurship, business ethics, and strategic management. He is passionate about integrating artificial intelligence into education, exploring its potential to enhance authentic evaluation methods while maintaining academic integrity.
Roger is currently assisting with the creation of a learning support portal named Classerly.com. This innovative platform connects students, teachers, and parents to support students in grades 3 to 12, fostering collaboration and enhancing educational outcomes.
His dedication to education extends beyond teaching. Roger has developed and delivered courses in both asynchronous and in-person formats, incorporating digital tools such as Moodle, Canvas, and D2L to support student engagement. His research interests focus on designing online assessments that are both meaningful and resistant to AI misuse, ensuring a balance between technological advancement and educational authenticity.
Outside of his academic pursuits, Roger is an avid sailor and adventurer. He restored a 1976 sailboat and embarked on a memorable three-week journey through the Thousand Islands with his son. Having traveled to over 65 countries, Roger values cultural exploration and brings a global perspective to his work.
